MFU’s Gene Paul receives NFU Meritorious Service Award to Humanity
March 3, 2019
Family farm agriculture endures in the social fabric of the United States and as the backbone of a safe and secure national food system because of the tireless advocacy and hard work of men and women across the industry. National Farmers Union (NFU) today presented its Meritorious Service Award to Humanity, one of the organization’s highest honors, to Gene Paul, a farmer from Delavan, Minn.
Paul, currently a policy analyst with the National Farmers Organization and past president, has been a longtime member of Minnesota Farmers Union and a perennial participant in the MFU Lobby Day and NFU Fly-in. His knowledge of agriculture policy and dedication to family farm justice have been tremendous assets to our organization.
“If the world had more Gene Pauls, the world would be a better place,” said MFU President Gary Wertish. “Gene has always been unselfish in his commitment to family farmers and rural communities.”
Paul joins past recipients of the Meritorious Service Award, including former Members of Congress and a former United States President, who have made particularly noteworthy contributions to family agriculture, humanity and Farmers Union at the state and national levels.
