MFU President Wertish re-appointed to USDA Ag Tech Advisory Committee for Trade in Grains, Feed, Oilseeds and Planting Seeds
June 12, 2019
Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) released its rosters for the Agricultural Technical Advisory Committees for Trade (ATAC). These committees are made up of private-sector individuals, who provide input to USDA and the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) regarding specific commodities and products.
Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) is pleased that President Gary Wertish has been re-appointed to the ATAC focused on grains, feed, oilseeds and planting seeds.
“It’s been a great opportunity to serve on the ATAC, and I’m glad to represent Farmers Union on this committee for another four years,” President Wertish said. “Grain farmers have been facing economic disruption for the past five years due to low prices and trade wars. I will continue to be a voice for our members on this important committee and hope to guide the USDA and USTR toward getting our trade relationships back on track, as they are an important piece of the puzzle for family farm income.”
The ATACs meet regularly in Washington, D.C. More information from the USDA can be found here.
