MFU joins broad coalition hosting governor, lieutenant governor candidate forum on farming and food
July 24, 2018
Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) is one of nine organizations focused on food access and better farm systems for Minnesota who have come together to sponsor a forum for governor and lieutenant governor candidates on food and farming policy. This forum is an opportunity for candidates to meet face-to-face with community members and stakeholders from across the state to hear about the challenges and opportunities facing Minnesotans today.
WHAT: Food and Farming Governor Candidate Forum
WHEN: Monday, July 30, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
WHERE: The Food Group, 8501 54th Ave. N., New Hope, MN 55428
WHO: Republican Governor candidate Matt Kruse, DFL Lt. Governor candidate Peggy Flanagan and DFL Lt. Governor candidate Erin Maye Quade are confirmed to attend thus far. Other candidates from both parties have been invited.
WHY: Food and farm policy affects all Minnesotans, and we believe that our politicians must do more to address farming and food access challenges across the state. This event will provide an opportunity for our politicians to learn from citizens across the state on the current challenges facing food and farming and the potential solutions that exist with the proper commitment from our next governor.
This event is co-sponsored by MFU, Appetite for Change, the American Heart Association, the Central Minnesota Young Farmers Coalition, the Hmong American Farmers Association, Hunger Solutions Minnesota, the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy, the Northside Fresh Coalition and The Food Group. You can register at foodandfarmingforum.eventbrite.com.
