What is on the minds of rural Minnesotans?
Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) aims to help make the answers clearer. The grassroots farm organization is holding Rural Voices Discussions this spring to hear from farmers and rural residents.
One of these will be held in Saint Peter at the Woods Golf Course, on Friday, April 5 from 10 a.m. – noon.
MFU President Gary Wertish will lead a listening panel along with officials from the Walz administration and National Farmers Union (NFU). Congressional staff often attend the sessions as well, as do state legislators.
Attendees may bring up any topic for discussion – the panelists are there to listen and take notes. At the end, they will respond with reflections on what they heard and what they might be able to do with the information.
MFU staff also take notes at these discussions, which will be compiled into a report later this spring. The report will be available to the media and legislative bodies once completed.
Each of the discussions will be livestreamed on the MFU Facebook page. Follow along with them on social media with the hashtag #RuralVoices. Refreshments will be provided.
