What is on the minds of rural Minnesotans?
Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) aims to help make the answers clearer. The grassroots farm organization is holding Rural Voices Discussions this spring to hear from farmers and rural residents.
One of these will be held in Alexandria at Grand Arbor on Wednesday, April 17 from 10 – 11:30 a.m.
MFU President Gary Wertish will lead a listening panel along with Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen and National Farmers Union Vice President Patty Edelburg. Congressional staff and state legislators may attend as well.
Attendees may bring up any topic for discussion – the panelists are there to listen and take notes. At the end, they will respond with reflections on what they heard and what they might be able to do with the information.
MFU staff also take notes at these discussions, which will be compiled into a report later this spring. The report will be available to the media and legislative bodies when it is completed.
Each of the discussions will be livestreamed on the MFU Facebook page. Follow along with them on social media with the hashtag #RuralVoices. Refreshments will be provided. Free and open to the public. Invite friends and neighbors!
