Field day at The Good Acre: Mobile produce wash stations and postharvest handling
Are you a small farm or urban farm looking for ideas for low-cost washing stations? This training from UMN Extension educators and the Good Acre staff will focus on setting up and using mobile handwashing stations for safely washing fruits and vegetables.
Take home prizes! 4 farm attendees will get to take home a complete wash line (partially disassembled for transport.) All attendees will get to take home a mobile handwashing stand kit.
Goals of this training include:
• Understanding best practices to improve the safety and quality during the washing of fresh fruits and vegetables
• How to wash and rinse vegetables to prepare for market and to improve shelf life and postharvest quality
• Cleaning and sanitation of tools and equipment for food safety and reduction of plant disease
All participants must register. Space is limited. Register by June 14.
