Farm groups from across the country are joining together this Spring for the Dairy Together Roadshow, a series of meetings aimed at rebuilding a viable dairy economy for family farms. The Minnesota edition of the roadshow will take place on April 16 at 10 a.m. at the Greenwald Pub, 310 1st Ave. N, Greenwald. Lunch will follow the presentation.
In conjunction with the meetings, the Dairy Together coalition will share data models on a two-tiered pricing proposal. The groups also will unveil research on an analysis of selected dairy programs to reduce volatility in milk prices and farm income. The research, conducted by Mark Stephenson from the University of Wisconsin and Chuck Nicholson from Cornell University, makes a compelling case for Supply Management:
- Increased net farm operating income
- Increased average milk price
- Reduced volatility
- Reduced rate of farm losses
- Reduced government expenditures
